Position Description
Dr. Sopko provides the overall project direction of all of Layne Christensen Company's ground freezing projects
worldwide. He is responsible for every aspect of the ground freezing engineering, including frozen soil laboratory
testing programs, engineering analyses - including computer modeling and simulation - and preparation of
construction plans and specifications. Dr. Sopko designs and implements the ground freezing monitoring and
instrumentation systems that are key points of the quality assurance programs. He provides on-site project
management during all phases of ground freezing, from preliminary subsurface exploration to freeze pipe drilling
and installation, as well as during the freezing and excavation processes.
